일본 정치학의 거성이라고 할 수 있는 마루야마 마사오[丸山眞男]씨가 1996년 8월15일 사망하였다..... 전후 일본 정치학의 양심이라고도 불리우던 그는 일본의 정치사상사를 잘 정리하였으며, 천황제에 대한 비판을 한 것으로 유명하다... 그의 대표적인 저서인 <>는 한국사상사연구소에서 김석근씨가 번역하여 통나무에서 출판하였다.

임대희 선생님 글을 보고난지 얼마 안되어 우연히 그 책을 우리 사무실의 사무총장실 책꽂이에서 발견하고 반가운 마음에 빌려와서(사실은 몰래 뽑아와서) 읽기를 시도해 보았는데... 정말 어렵더군요... 앞부분에 실려있는 도올 김용옥 선생의 화려한(?) 찬사를 보는 것 만으로 기가 죽는군요... 게다가 그 책은 마루야마 선생이 20대에 쓴 것이라고 하는데... 생각해보니 지금의 내 나이가 아닌가... 갑자기 한심해보이는 내모습...

-Political Scientist; known for his study of the history of political thought in Japan.<br/>
-Born in Osaka Prefecture. After graduation from the law department of Tokyo University in 1937, he joined its faculty, becoming a full professor in 1950 and retirering in 1971.<br/>
-Maruyama contributed greatly Japan from the end of World War II and undertook a penetrating analysis of Japan's social and ideological situation from the viewpoint of a democratic humanism.
