SeJong, the Great King[ | ]

The 4th King of JoSeon Dynasty. His posthumous epithet is 世宗莊憲英文睿武仁聖明孝大王 (세종장헌영문예무인성명효대왕). He is one of the greatest kings throughout the whole Korean history. He also creates the Korean charaters, HunMinJeongEum with his scholar-officials.

Since 1990, UNESCO has awarded King Sejong Literacy Prize to those who are outstanding and meritorious achievement in contributing to the fight for literacy, with funding of the Government of the Republic of Korea. Special consideration is given to the development and dissemination of mother tongues in developing countries, increasing the prestige of the award.
